Treatments for wrinkles and fine lines
Over time, it’s normal for fine lines to start appearing in the corners of our eyes, between our brows and on our foreheads. Sun exposure, repeated muscle movements, loss of facial fat pads, decreasing water content in our skin, genetics – they’re all culprits in the lines we see on our faces.
Dynamic lines: These are the lines that appear when your muscles are moving (when you smile or frown, for example). They are the easiest to address, which is why more and more women and men in their 20s and 30s are using Botulinum Toxin treatments. Starting early gently relaxes muscles and keeps deep static lines from forming. The result is subtle: you get a natural, refreshed look that reduces fine lines without impacting your ability to move your face or express emotion.
Static lines: Over time, dynamic lines become etched into the skin, appearing even when your face isn’t moving. Treating these deeper static lines requires a combination of Botulinum Toxin treatment and precisely-placed dermal filler. It may not be possible to completely erase static lines, but they can be softened it and kept from getting more pronounced.
Smile and “marionette” lines: The lines that extend from the sides of your nose to the corners of your mouth (smile lines) tend to deepen as you age. So do the ones that go from the corners of your mouth and extend down to your chin (marionette lines). Carefully placed dermal filler along with Botulinum Toxin treatment (for marionette lines) can soften and rejuvenate this area.
Cheeks: As our bone structure changes and we lose fat pads and muscle integrity, cheeks can start to sag, obscuring our cheekbones and deepening the lines around the nose. Strategically-placed fillers can restore some of this volume loss and minimize the depth of lines. The cheeks are often the first area to be treated during facial rejuvenation, and can make a dramatic difference in making an aging face look younger and fresher.
Chin and around the mouth: The lower half of our jaw recedes as we age. Pair that with the loss of fat and muscle, and you get thinner lips, fine lines around the lips (called smoker’s lines) and deeper lines that extend down the chin (marionette lines). Focused treatment with dermal filler will help correct these tissue losses and can restore a mature face to more youthful proportions.
Temples: The temple area can also look hollow due to bone and fat loss, with genetics often playing a role. Using fillers here not only restores facial proportions, but helps retract sagging skin near the eyebrow, and opening up the eye area, resulting in eyes that don’t look heavy and appear brighter.
